CADENCE is defined as a regular beat or rhythm. : the way a person’s voice changes gently rising and falling while he or she is speaking. : an ending part of a piece of music.

You’re driving down the highway and a song you love is playing.  You began to sing along.  It conjures up the memory of the first time you heard it.  You smile.  It stays in your head and all day you continue humming the hook.

Our lives have CADENCE as well.  Everything we do has a rhythm.  When we get off step it’s like hearing your favorite record scratch.  Many of you remember records and what would happen if it had a scratch.  For those who don’t know, let me tell you.   It would get stuck on one line and repeat it over and over.

Just as you thought you were “getting down” there it was….  interrupting your CADENCE.

If you wanted to correct it, you usually had to apply pressure.  Most of us used a coin to weigh it down.  When it comes to life, keeping tempo can be a lot more complicated.  It certainly takes more than the pressure of a coin to get us back in step.

There are times when you just can’t dance.  Not because you don’t want to but because you can’t hear the music.  Distractions are so loud they are drowning out the sound.

How do you find it, your CADENCE?  I have a suggestion.  This time when you “get down” go to your knees and don’t get up until you can hear.

It may sound faint at first but be persistent.  Keep “getting down”.

It’s getting louder.  Ahhh, there it is!

You have your groove back and you have a new song.

Dance Ladies, your CADENCE is back!
